SheTrades Hub Gambia
Overview
Summary
The SheTrades Hub Gambia facilitates the integration of Gambian women-owned businesses in the economy and increases their participation in trade. The focus areas of the Hub contribute to income and employment opportunities for Gambian women by fostering self-employment through access to finance, business development support, digitalisation, and support in public policy innovations.
The local host institution of the SheTrades Hub is the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration & Employment (MOTIE), key implementing partner of the SheTrades Gambia Project. MOTIE works closely with the International Trade Centre and key public and private stakeholders to facilitate the establishment of a conducive business environment for women entrepreneurs.
The SheTrades Hub Gambia was launched in 2021 as continuation of the SheTrades Gambia Project. The project looks back at 3 years of very successful interventions for economic women empowerment. They helped securing over 3 million USD worth of investments and business transactions for women entrepreneurs, improved the capacity of 5 Business Support Organisations, and trained 1,020 women for more competitiveness.
