ITC, CCPIT partner to empower Chinese firms to trade with Global Trade Helpdesk
(Geneva) – The Global Trade Helpdesk – an online platform offering trade intelligence tailored for businesses, particularly small businesses – is now available in Chinese, through a partnership between the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). Chinese businesses can now use this one-stop-shop of trade data to navigate the complexities of global trade and seize opportunities in the international market.
The platform integrates information from across 11 partner agencies, including data on imports, market dynamics, tariffs, regulatory requirements, and insights into trade finance, e-commerce marketplaces, and digital payment systems. Access to these resources enables even small businesses to make informed decisions and expand their global footprint. Small businesses often make up a modest share of their country's exports.
Backing small businesses
The ITC- CCPIT partnership signals a shared commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment. The platform is accompanied by a targeted training programme and monthly trainings across the Chinese market, to demystify for businesses the process of entering and competing in new markets.
ITC Executive Director Pamela Coke-Hamilton said: "We have been delivering on our original mandate of making trade information more accessible to small businesses globally for six decades. We’re now building on that work to support small businesses in China."
YAO Xin, Secretary-General of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Commercial Sub-council, also highlighted the platform's transformative potential: "Our mission is to equip Chinese businesses, especially micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), with the critical market intelligence they need to gain insight into trade opportunities and explore the trade market. Updated and reliable information is a cornerstone of successful international trade."
Since its inception, the Global Trade Helpdesk has attracted over 250,000 users from over 190 economies. The platform's growing influence and use reflect its endorsement by major global entities, including the Group of 20 (G20) and the World Trade Organization's Informal Working Group on Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. Now available in eight languages, including Chinese, the Global Trade Helpdesk continues to expand its reach and impact, affirming its role as a pivotal resource in global trade facilitation.
